Description

Upgraded solar charging system with two 120 Amp hour lithium batteries, three solar panels totaling 280 watt charging power, correct lithium charging equipment & monitoring gages. All solar equipment and lithium batteries were purchased from Expion 360 (the same company that Airstream used to install the original factory solar package). The batteries are installed underneath the queen bed in the auxillary storage area. The bed foundation is hinged and is easily raised to access the batteries. Airstream stopped mounting their batteries in the external battery box and converted it to a tool box. I did the same.

After upgrading with lithium batteries and adding two additional solar panels to the one solar panel that came from the factory I never had problems again with insufficient electrical power. The factory installed AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries are OK if all you do is go from one RV park to another that offers electrical hookup , but boon docking or camping without electrical hookup requires a lithium battery bank.

Never been smoked in. Never traveled with pets. Very clean. Camper has always lived in Arkansas. Never seen snow or salt.

You can visit Airstream on the internet, and look at their Flying Cloud line-up for the floor plan details. The plans have not changed since I purchased this model in 2022.

I ordered the following options on the 23-foot, front queen bed model: Awning Package, Solar Package.

It came with continuous hot water system (no hot water tank needed) central ducted heat and air conditioning, 12 volt fridge, three--burner propane stove with oven, 12 volt smart television, six speaker blue tooth stereo system (speakers are mounted in ceiling) full-bathroom with porcelain toilet, full-size shower and sink with vanity, LED lighting throughout camper, very comfortable queen bed, all camper windows are awning-type so rain won't be a problem, electric towing hitch hookup, and much more.

It's never been in an accident or needed to go into a shop for repair. My wife just does not like RV traveling and wants to see Europe instead. I've taken it out West twice, but other than that it sits in storage.

I checked the price of new 23-Foot Flying Cloud models with the same layout, and they start at a base price of $96,400. That does not include the options or lithium batteries. The cost of adding the lithium battery bank, gages, solar panels, and necessary wiring to move the battery bank was approximately $5,000.
