Description
"I want to buy a Travel Trailer that someone else paid the new price for, didn't use much, but also worked all the kinks out."
Or, how about:
"I want to buy an RV but those tariffs are gonna suck."
Well, here it is.
This is a loaded 2022 Lance 2185 Bunkhouse travel trailer, dual axle, single slide out. Total trailer length is 26', nose to bumper. Like all Lance trailers, she's heavy at the hitch, but tows really well at around 7,000 lbs of "loaded weight" -- This is about half fresh water, and all the standard packed gear for several nights away.
We bought Lance because Airstream was too expensive and this was the next best thing. Everything is solid and well built. You can look up the specs on the model from Lance, but the tanks are a great size for a family of four, it comes with 3, 20 lb propane tanks on the nose, 2 solar panels, and 2 installed, upgraded AGM batteries for many days of boondocking.
What sold me on this trailer was the functionality - the tanks are large, the storage is great, the construction is solid. It is very useable throughout, with built-in shades and screens on each window - both an electric and gas powered water heater. It is maxxed out for battery capacity and carries three propane tanks. Electric hitch and stabilizer jacks, microwave, 3 burner stove and an oven that actually works. The sliding storage drawer in the front locker has been incredibly handy, and the receiver in the back will easily hold a bike rack.
This model also features two exterior doors and the ability to "close off" the bunk area/bathroom from the rest of the floorplan which has the added advantage of making the bathroom useable, with its own sink; at 6'4", this was an important feature - also the folding bed in front turns into a couch to give even more room in the cabin during the day. Now, Lance will tell you there are 3 bunks in this floor plan, and I won't argue, but I'm going to call it two bunks, with a really impressive amount of storage for this size trailer.
Upgrades? We have upgrades -
1) The main mattress is a premium, custom, top of the line, "Why Did We Pay That Much for this?" folding foam and silicone mattress of 13" thickness - twice as thick as the stock mattress. You do not notice the cut of the fold at all. Everyone gets a great night of sleep.
2) The refrigerator has been upgraded to a NorCold 12v (runs only on battery, no propane). This fridge is bigger on the inside than the stock model and keeps everything cold for several days between the battery and the solar charging. This single upgrade was a game changer. No more propane tank anxiety.
3) Wireless rear camera - mounted at the back wall with a display for the cab of your two vehicle.
This trailer has been loved and cared for with the best intentions of a long-term rig. We have had a few really memorable trips, but our lives have gotten too busy to keep up. Someone is going to greatly benefit from our hard work -- but it's time to find a new home.
