Description
2006 Mandalay (THOR) Presidio 39B
Presidio was THORs intro into the Class A Luxury Motorhome market. This particular unit apparently started down the line as a Fourwinds and came off as a Thor. We appear to be the 2nd or 3rd owners. It spent the first 7 years in CA. When we purchased it in January of 2016 there were only 12,857 miles on it. The unit currently has 51,808 on it and was stored under cover and with power from January of 2016 to February of 2025. The unit has been well maintained most maintenance records are available.
We loved the space the interior offered with the four slides; but, we were not happy with either couch so we replaced the one on the passenger side with a new more comfortable sleeper bed. We replaced the driver side couch with two Amish slider-rockers and foot stools. You wont find a more comfortable seating solution anywhere. As currently set up the Coach will sleep 4. You could go back to 6 by replacing the two rockers with another couch. The Presidio models front living area is both spacious and comfortable. We had dinners for 8 with everyone in their own seat and using the dining room table as a buffet.
The kitchen has a gas oven (that has never been used) and gas cook top that was only rarely used. (We used an electric induction cook top and the convection oven/microwave.) There is plenty of cabinet space on both sides and good lighting. The refrigerator and hot water tank are both dual fuel, so you can use propane or electric. We installed a new TV and sound bar. (There is a satellite dish on top, but we have never used it). There is a privacy door just beyond the refrigerator to block the view to the shower and hall vanity. The toilet is in a private room with a second vanity. There is a second privacy door to the large bedroom, which includes a walk around queen-sized bed, a dressing table, a Splendide washer-dryer unit and lots more cabinets along with a full back wall wardrobe closet.
The exterior of the Coach is still impressive as the full body paint has a great design and it is in good shape. There is a large awning to offer shade on sunny days. There are plenty of storage bays including two that go all the way though and one of those has a full slider installed. There are separate bays for the hydraulics, the converter, electric hookup, and batteries. The fluid utility bay has a city water (fresh water) input, a fresh water tank, and access to the black and gray tanks for draining. The black tank has a special hookup to spray it out and that is a life saver.
The Coach sits on a Workhorse Chassis and is powered by a 330 HP Cummins Diesel. HUGE ADVANTAGE this engine is one of the last that does not require DEF. You will save money on fuel and avoid all the issues that newer units have with the DEF sytems. The suspension systems is supported by two massive airbags so the ride is great.
The Coach is equipped with an 8 KW Onan Generator and a 2000 Watt Inverter. So you can use your equipment whether you off the grid for a few minutes or for hours or days. The Coach looks great inside and out, has been well maintained ( new tires in DEC 23), and it is ready and waiting for a whole new set of adventures.
