The Thor Synergy is based on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis with upgraded suspension making it one of the best handlings rigs you can buy. We drove her across the country north to south and east to west. It is the only RV we have ever owned, and we did not find it difficult to transition to life on the road with our little dog once we retired. Other than nearly taking out a fuel tank at service station in Oregon she had no troubles driving it. We added the solar panel option to keep the batteries (all recently replaced) topped off. The paint was another upgrade as was the protective coating.Mechanically it is in great condition with 38,000 miles on the odometer, mostly highway. We replaced all the tires with new Hercules models familiar to 18 wheelers. The often exasperating yet vaunted German engineering is on display, the starting battery is hidden under the driver’s seat, a blown fuse could be in one of several places. You get used to it.We also added the innovative “Idaho Tote” trailer that is a head turner at campgrounds as the trailer’s wheels turn with the steering wheel as if it were an extension of the rig. No hassle backing into the campsite. There is also a Garmin GPS unit that tells you when there is a low bridge or a weight limit or annoyingly bugs you with reminders that the state of New York wants you to turn off your propane tank for the entire time you are on the Throughway! It’s easy to turn it off. We did love the trip from NH to FL during COVID, we went over the GWB at 60 MPH and were the only ones on it! Bring your house, with you! There is an upgraded diesel generator (the kind they use on ships at sea) that charges batteries and supplies power to all appliances including the AC, Furnace, Refrigerator freezer and all three TV’s when shore power isn’t available. It also shuts off automatically if the fuel supply gets low. There is an outdoor shower I have never used. There is an indoor shower and campgrounds generally have one so why risk getting arrested in a rest area?In summary, the Synergy is perfect for a retired couple and their animal who want to go places in relative comfort. This one is presently located in Florida for the winter. Now that our idea of an exciting time is cheating our neighbors at cribbage, it’s time to give someone else a chance to make some memories along the open road.
