Mercedes Sprinter with a 3 liter, 6 cylinder turbo diesel engine. These vans were designed as delivery vehicles, so they have enhanced lubrication and engine cooling. Sleeps 4 and is in great shape! When we purchased this RV in 2011 It had 7200 miles on it. Currently it has 210,000 miles. It has Dodge emblems because it was built when Daimler owned Chrysler. (Dodge sells a replacement grill with Mercedes emblems if you want them.)
Why buy a motorhome with this kind of milage? Diesel engines typically average 500,000 miles or more. We like to travel and don’t like problems. We keep it maintained. We keep a spreadsheet on maintaining the chassis which we have done from the day we purchased it along with receipts to prove what we have done. All repairs have been done by certified shops. I’m not going to list what has been done here, however, if you are interested, we can provide you with that information.
The RV sleeps three adults or two adults and two kids, in two locations. The queen size bed is in the rear of the coach as a slideout while the dinette converts to a bed.
All the appliances operate, we have made a number of changes to improve storage and functionality. We like to be comfortable even if we are off grid. I have made a custom manual to explain the modifications I have made and their operation.
We also have a Chevy Sonic that we tow. It has a Blue Ox towing system. It also has a “Brake Buddy” auxiliary braking system, which makes it legal to tow in all states and Canada. It also has a hitch receiver, so you can mount a bike rack or tow a small trailer behind the car. There is also an electrical hookup in the car trunk for trailer lights. The car could be purchased separately. We would sell it without the RV.
