German yacht-like design, efficiency and build quality in 21 feet of MB Sprinter-based Class A motorhome. Unique in US. Imported and registered at great expense by original engineer owner. Bulletproof MB 2.7 liter 5 cyl turbo diesel with Sprintshift 6-speed auto returns 17-21 mpg. Sleeps four comfortably in full-size beds, rear fixed and drop-down in cab area. Seats four in shoulder-belted, forward-facing safety and comfort. 2nd owner (2015). Good condition for its age, but needs some sorting. Maintained by Sprinter specialists. 3 solar panels charge batteriea - ideal for boondocking. New chassis battery and alternator. 18K miles on Conti tires. Incredible storage space in cabinets and drawers inside, slide-out bins outside and garage. Spares include new double-pane window. freshwater pump, galley faucet, etc. RV is beautifully insulated and designed essentially for (traditional) European climes - has cab, but no standing AC, nor generator. I can vouch that RV is warm and cozy winter camping in New England.

The vehicle is strong, but there are issues related to its uniqueness in the US. Thousands of MB Sprinters, also badged in US as Freightliner and Dodge, with the same engine and with upward of a half-million miles still run strong. The Sprintshift is an automated manual transmission not sold in the US. Most reporting lauds its reliability and longevity. I've had one issue with it, traced to a voltage fault that precluded shifting beyond third gear. It was diagnosed and easily fixed by a Sprinter guru. Some could be concerned by parts availability. I've been lucky to have a friend in Germany who has bought and sent a rear light cluster and a window from a Hymer dealer local to her. After she moved I ordered via eBay from the UK for $65 a new rear light cluster - common to several European RVs - delivered within three days. Parts are available, just not necessarily off the shelf in the US. Rig connects to 15A shore pwr.

Warts:
- Clear coat peeling on bumper covers. Small ding in front cover. Scuffing
- BU camera and/or monitor inop.
- Stereo never very good. Removable faceplate does not stay seated
- 110V shore power not working when connected.
- Norcold fridge worked fine on 110V, finicky on LP, unable to make it work on 12V (problem with inverter?)
- Down switch for retracting entry steps works intermittently, needs replacing. Up switch is fine
