Description
Solitude S-Class 3950BH-R
This has been a great RV for our family for a season.
We purchased it after selling our primary residence and lived Full Time for 12 weeks while we finished renovations to the home we were moving into. Our hopes were to travel with it and make much more use once we were settled in our new home, but, unfortunately, we've come to terms with the fact that we simply don't have time to use it the way we want to, and it would be far better loved and used by a family, rather than sitting and waiting on our schedule to open up.
As with any Brand New RV - especially post 2020 - we had quite a punchlist after purchase. Ultimately - Grand Design sent an SRT Tech to us for 2 days, and he worked diligently and was able to resolve all but 1 issue (even some that I didn't know were problems). The outstanding issue is a delaminated spot on the center cushion of the Super Sofa. I'm currently in communication with Grand Design Customer Support and have an open ticket on it, and we're working with them to get it resolved, so effectively there should be no punchlist items outstanding for the new owner.
This RV is amazing and equipped with everything needed for full-timers or weekend warriors alike. We fell in love with the storage and spacious layout throughout. During the coldest of days, it stayed warm, and the ACs seemed to lower the temps in the Alabama summer withouth effort. The fireplace can be setup for Ambiance only, or it can be set to heat mode to add a little extra "umph" as you lounge on the cozy chaise in front of the TV.
The outdoor kitchen and radio make the campsite or homestead extra enjoyable. Grand Design seemed to have thought of everything in this model. There's ample storage in the huge master closet, under the Master Bed, kitchen cabinets, and lighted pantry.
For best towing capabilities on my truck, I had a GooseBox installed on order. I didn't want to deal with losing my entire bed to a 5th Wheel Hitch and didn't want to take one in and out frequently. Towing is super smooth even in rough road conditions. If you'd prefer a 5th Wheel hitch, I'd be more than happy to swap it back and discount for the GooseBox.
Inside still looks, feels, and smells brand new.
