Description
This is a 1998 Scamp 16 standard, layout 4 for sale. Layout 4, back dinette front bunk / couch in the front, center kitchen, wet bath with shower and potty front left. 2 burner propane stove, 12Vdc fridge, sink, propane hot water, propane forced air heat, potty is a sailboat style, pump a lever to open flush and push water through the bowl. It has standard scamp 16 fresh water, grey water and black water capacity tanks. It has a 12 volt charger. All the components run from either propane or 12 volts. 115 outlets are live when hooked up to campground 115 power. It has several added features and maintained components. There is a very new axle with low miles on it, torsion springs are very good, it sits level and rides well. The tires have low miles and look new, although they are at least a few years old. The electric brakes work well. There is a fan upgrade on the roof, a Maxxair Fanmate, it moves a lot of air with low power. There is no AC, although people do retrofit it into the clothes closet. A state of the art high efficiency 12 volt only refrigerator made by Engel, has been retrofitted into the space. The refrigerator works very well. The outside fiberglass shell has some oxidation that cleans up with maintainance, there are no cracks, crazing or any fatigue areas of the entire fiberglass shell. In the sleeping area, the dinette sets up for eating, and takes down for a sleeping area with the cushions and backrests. A big addition to the sleeping setup is an available custom multi layer 7 inch foam mattress done by a marine/RV upholstery shop, that drops into place on top of the dinette platform. This provides a huge increase in cushioning if someone was interested in a super mattress. For a young couple with kids, the dinette bed and bunks are a great setup for overnights and weekends. If you are a couple with need for a much better bed setup, and can do without setting up the dinette, the big one piece bed mattress is a good option. The mattress was expensive, it can be offered or pulled back from the sell package. If you follow scamp you know the pros and cons. With the new axle and good tires, this one tows easily and securely. The older scamps are useful if the fiberglass is solid condition and the axles and running gear are good. This is the case with this one. For drawbacks, the whole interior cabinet finish and rug is dated, a little worn but clean. It does have all brand new retro curtains made by a seamstress.
