The Historic Geneva Beach Resort, est. 1883, is one of the finest resorts in the Alexandria area. Located on Lake Geneva and the famous Alexandria Chain of Lakes, it caters to families and fishing enthusiasts. Alexandria is located on I-94 and is only a few hours from the Minneapolis or Fargo areas.

Lake Geneva connects to Lake LeHommeDieu, Lake Carlos, Lake Darling and Lake Victoria to form a chain of lakes offering plenty of boating and fishing opportunities. The lakes are connected by channels, and guests can boat to 3 restaurants, and Carlos State Park. The lakes feature bass, pan fish, walleye and northern. The lakes are noted for the quality and variety of fishing opportunities, and the DNR and area sports clubs have stocked them well. The resort has 3 Lund Fishing Boats with 15 hp 4 stroke motors for rent, and Jet Ski and pontoon rentals/delivery are available through area businesses. There is plenty of dock space (460 ft.) for guests to rent boat slips. Boat lifts are not necessary. The fish cleaning house has running water and electricity and is close to the docks. Guests use the DNR boat landing on the north side of the lake.

Geneva Beach has a large sandy beach, a great swimming area, a water playground with a Whoosh, two Rave Aqua Jumps with connecting slidewalk and Aqualog, and a large selection of complimentary paddleboards, paddleboats, kayaks and lifejackets. Kids can fish off the dock. Parents appreciate the wide open plush grounds that provide a safe, carefree environment, and feature two Rainbow play systems, shuffleboard, volleyball, Frisbee golf, bocce ball, basketball, and 4 campfires with free wood.

The resort is located directly on the Central Lakes Trail (D.A.T.A. Trail). There are five golf courses, many specialty and antique shops, an amusement park, museums, live theatre, and great dining all within a five minute drive. The 27 hole Geneva Golf Course is only minutes up the beach.
All 17 cabins/vacation homes are ultra-clean and modern, and include A/C, wireless internet, & cable TV. There are TVs in all living rooms and numerous bedrooms. All cabins have been continuously updated with tasteful flooring, fixtures, furniture, décor, and bedding. Linens are commercially owned and cleaned. The kitchens are well stocked with matching dinnerware.

There is a small store/office for ice, t-shirts, gifts, etc., and a game room with vintage video games, candy, soda, pool table, TV, board games, coin operated laundry, rest room, and security camera.
All marketing is up to date and includes Facebook, Google, Instagram, Twitter, Trip Advisor, VRBO.com (Sugarbush Lodge), ExploreMinnesota.com, MinnesotaResorts.com, Minnesota-Resorts.com., ExploreAlex.com, VacationAlexandriaMN.com, and a strong presence in the local Alexandria Vacation Guide. The resort includes an owner’s residence just down the street from the resort. Totally renovated in 2006, it is 2,200 sq. ft., and features 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, an open concept kitchen and living room, large home office, laundry room, and additional family room. The view from the deck features Lake Geneva.

The resort is located in the city of Alexandria and features city water and city sewer. Internet and Cable TV are provided by Spectrum and Gardonville.

The resort remains open in the winter by renting 16 cabins to students who attend Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC). The students move in at the end of August and move out in mid-May. They sign a school year lease. This is a long standing tradition and the resort has a good reputation at the college. Approximately 26 students live at the resort, one per bedroom, and we offer cleaning every 6 weeks.

The Sugarbush Lodge is also open year round, and is typically reserved on weekends in the off-season. The lodge is featured on VRBO.com and also has its own website.

The staff at the resort usually includes two part-time yard workers, a part-time mower, a part-time office person, a part time housekeeping manager, and 12 part-time cabin cleaners. There is also a handy man on call. The owners are also active in the running of the resort, and both held other jobs during the time of their ownership.

Alexandria, “Minnesota’s Top Micropolitan City”, is a progressive town with world renowned manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. The community is larger than the numbers show, as many of the residents live on the surrounding lakes outside of the city limits. The award winning school system has over 4,000 students, and the health care systems are impressive. “Alec” is a strong cultural and sports minded community, with many events and opportunities for tourists to experience. The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and Explore Alexandria Tourism are both strong promoters of tourism in the Alexandria Lakes Area.
