The Grants/Cibola Sands KOA is a 49-site RV park located in Grants, New Mexico just off Interstate-40. Located only an hour and fifteen minutes west of Albuquerque and two hours southwest of Santa Fe, the park is a popular stop for travelers from March through November. Campers have the option to stay on a nightly or weekly basis, in one of the two cabins, at a tent site or in the rental trailer.
The park consists of 38 total RV sites. Of those 38 sites, 35 are full hookup with cable TV. Nineteen of the full hookups have 50-amp service with the remaining 16 offering 30-amp service. The remaining three sites flex as tent sites when necessary and offer water/electric with 30-amp service. Guests can also enjoy the campground in one of the two camping cabins. One cabin sleeps up to four campers providing a full bed and a bunk bed with A/C and cable TV. The other cabin sleeps two, replacing the bunk bed with a table and chairs. This cabin also includes A/C and cable TV for camper enjoyment. There are eight tent sites at the park. Three of the tent sites offer water/electric hookups with gravel pads. The remaining five are dry camping. Lastly, guests can stay in the RV rental that sleeps up to three. The rental is equipped with a full bed and a futon/sleeper sofa. There is a partial kitchen with microwave and refrigerator and a half bath.
While staying at the Grants/Cibola Sands KOA campers have access to Wi-Fi, cable TV, laundry open 24-hours, a playground and a dog park. Other amenities campers can enjoy are the game room, convenience store, well-kept bathhouses and walking path through lava beds near the KOA. One of the big draws for the campground is the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta held annually in October. In 2018, around 886,000 guests attended the event over nine days.
