The Albert Lea/Austin KOA is an 83-site RV park located in Hayward, Minnesota off Interstate 90. The park’s ideal location provides easy access to the major interstates 90 and 35 for traveling east/west and north/south, respectively. The park is only an hour and 45 minutes to Minneapolis and is located between the two cities of Austin and Albert Lea with a combined population of just under 43,000. This seasonal park offers campers nightly, weekly or monthly stay options. Guests can stay at the campground in one of the many RV sites offered, one-room cabins, deluxe cabins, individual tent sites or a large group tent site area.
The park consists of 59 total RV sites. Of those 59, 19 are full hook-up. Thirteen of the full hook-ups are pull-through sites and provide 50-amp service with one being a back-in site. Three of pull-through sites are newly upgraded deluxe patio sites. Three of the remaining five full hook-ups are pull-through with 30-amp service while two are back-in. Another option for guests is water/electric sites with 50-amp service. Of the 27 of these sites, 19 are pull-through while eight are back-in. The park also offers guests 11 water/electric sites with 30-amp service. Ten are pull-through while one is back-in. There are two sites that offer water/electric with 20-amp service. Both sites are pull-through. Another way to enjoy the campground are the cabins. There are two one-room cabins and two deluxe cabins. The one-room cabins sleep up to four with one full bed and one bunk bed. The deluxe cabins sleep up to six and are equipped with a full bath and shower as well as a partial kitchen. In addition to the RV sites and cabins, visitors can camp at one of the 20 tent sites. Six of these tent sites offer electricity hook-ups. There is also a large group area for tent camping.
While staying at the Albert Lea/Austin KOA campers have access to Wi-Fi, a pool, laundry open 24-hours, a playground and dog park. Other amenities campers can enjoy are the R/C track, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, meeting hall, game room and a convenience store. Aside from the park’s convenient location, there are other reasons to visit the Albert Lea/Austin KOA. The park is only an hour and a half away from the Mall of America, the largest mall in the United States. The SPAM Museum in Austin is a local attraction and the Freeborn County Fair in Albert Lea is a huge event. Over six days in the middle of the summer there is live entertainment, a carnival, exhibits and kid friendly activities.
