Description
This postage-stamp sized campground between historic Route 66 and I-55 at Lincoln, IL. would be ideal for snowbirds. It is on the Central Illinois prairie between Chicago and Springfield. I-72, I-74, I-39, I-155 run within a few miles of the campground. It is truly a hub with no competitors within 40 miles. The campground has an abundance of tall trees for shade. It is surrounded by corn and soybean fields on a paved county highway. Established flower beds keep the grounds attractive spring, summer, and fall. The campground has a shower house/reception bldg., a caretaker’s cabin, a toolshed, a lawnmower shed, and a storage unit. Lincoln, IL was named for President Abraham Lincoln. His home, tomb, and law offices are in nearby Springfield. Atlanta, IL….a mere 10 miles away…hosts many Route 66 travelers. Our campground is often the first stop for many foreigners who rent an RV in Chicago and start their way to Santa Monica, California on Route 66. It is great fun to greet them and have them share their adventures with us.
Location
We are located on Logan County 2…1250th Ave…or Nicholson Rd. Take your pick…they are all the same road. Exiting from I-55, use either Exit 123 (coming from the south) or Exit 133 (coming from the north). Simply follow the blue Camping signs. You will find us on Google Maps!!
