Description
Located in Charleston, West Virginia, our Mode Classic has been driven 18,500 miles since we took delivery of it on April 3, 2021.
It has never been driven off-road, was kept winterized all winter, and has not been modified in any way. The van is immaculate inside and out!
Thankfully the only issue with our Mode was related to the Volta system, which was fully resolved by STO/Volta’s wiring harness swap. All recalls on the Sprinter have been completed, and the EIS boot was installed at Astorg Motor Co. Mercedes (authorized Sprinter service) in Parkersburg, WV. We have not had plumbing leaks, the heat and AC work amazingly well, and the Volta battery system is absolutely the star of this fantastic home on wheels! The Volta system has enough charge to run the AC for hours, and then recharges quickly via it’s own dedicated alternator.
Additions to our Mode include:
- Terrawagen aero hood wind deflector
- Vanwife shelf and light-blocking curtain
- 2nd set of Storyteller Overland insulated window shades (purchased gently used from another STO owner)
- Insulated vent fan cover
- Paper towel holder (the same one CA Vans sells, but via Amazon)
- Luno Front Cab Air Mattress
- Overland Screens folding front window vents
We will also include our Magma nonstick induction cookware set and other niceties and necessities for cooking, cleaning, water filling, etc.
There is a small chip on the windshield that was repaired by Safelite. The front bumper was lightly bumped the first week we had the van by our new (at the time) teenage driver. The bumper is lightly scuffed, but it did not break anything nor affect lights, sensors, etc.
Our Mode is not sitting still waiting to sell. I use it as an occasional “daily driver,” about 1-2 days a week, and we have several soccer tournaments, swim meets, and camps to attend in the next couple of months.
We’re non-smokers, it’s never been cooked in (except microwavable items), and the induction stove has never been used. We have not often slept in our Mode during the cold, but when we did, I kept the van well-ventilated to limit condensation.
The Sprinter is a 2020, and the Mode is a 2021. If you are not clear why this is the case, please search the Storyteller Overland group for an explanation better than what I can provide; vans are delivered to STO weeks or months before they are transformed into Modes.
Our Mode is the ultimate travel-sport home base. We’ve traveled as far away as Florida for that purpose and all over the Eastern USA.
