Description
2009 Interstate on a 2008 Sprinter
This is badged as a Freightliner. All Sprinters are Mercedes Benz, (which owns Frieghtliner)
Sleeps 2 + Child
Seat Belts for 8
3.0 Turbo Diesel--17-18 MPG- Runs Good, no oil usage between changes
2008/09 does not use DEF as the newer units do. This cuts down on many problems.
When we bought the unit 5 or 6 years ago we found out the factory installed invertor/charger is very poor. The new batteries only lasted a year because they were overcharged. We had the electrical system upgraded by "Lewster" who is well known for Airstream electrical upgrades. This cost around $6000 but made a huge difference.
Upgraded Electrical:2017 by Lew Farber-RVIA Certified Master Technician*AM Solar Authorized Installation Center INVERTER-Magnum 1000 watt sine wave inverter/charger
Victron BMV-702 plus blue tooth dongle- Moniter via phone App

Soft Start on RV A/C unit (rooftop)
Blue Sea Automatic Charging Relay
Transmission was replaced at approx. 135K miles with a Jasper Unit-Transmission serviced earlier this year at dealer
The transmission failure was due to leaking turbo/intercooler hoses which burned up the torque converter.

In Dash CD changer
The roof was re-sealed last summer with Silcaflex
There is no check engine light on
It did give a code that 2 glow plugs were faulty but after reseting it has not come back on, (glow plugs do not effect the running of the vehicle)
There are few small spots where the paint is bubbled which will need attention
The windshield has a rock chip
